I have quite a lot of Chinese Praying Manises in the garden this year. Just had to share. Nice little creatures.

Any of you have those? How well do they (their egg sacks) survive the winter?

I only have the native (here) Carolina mantis, but I find several egg cases each fall/winter. The eggs do fine unless a bird finds them. To ensure that some survive, I put ones that I find into a jar in the refrigerator over winter, then take them out in Spring. :)

I was thinking to do the same. Well I would pick the egg cases from the plants that get pruned during the winter and leave those that might emerge in thick bamboo canopy. Haven't seen one so far and the weather is going to be really cold, possible frost in the morning. Perhaps they won't even make it that far.
