I have aerosulcata spectabalis that I can dig field divisions out of which I want to trade for Castillon, Alphonse Karr, or daikokuchiku, but I'm not planning on trading until early April because its too cold to be shipping bamboos at this time of the year.

I will be sure to tell all the plants that I have shipped and received that

the Nigra is POSSILBY Daikokuchiku... the friend I got it from thougth that was the name, but could not remember. it grew an impressive amount, in a short time, but thats not a positive ID.

Castillon is no problem I have pleny. get back to me in the spring when things thaw and you can dig, and let me know on the spectabalis. Alphonse Karr would have to be a greenhouse or houseplant for you there, I have to protect it all winter here to keep it alive.

Cool. 8)

I watered the plants in really well yesterday, so I couldn't box them up without the box falling apart. I'll wrap the pot with plastic wrap and box it up tonight. I'll drop it at the post office tomorrow. Both these plants are tough as nails, so they should survive the stress of digging and shipping. They might drop some leaves, but they'll bounce back in the spring.

that box looks pretty beat up in the first photo... then I realized that was the one my kids got ahold of, and played race car in around the living room until I came back i to get it... it was in two pieces by then
A little tape, and good as new... looked like it held them all in OK through the trip.

Good one Mantis! Gene is the man! I've got a few of those "clown car" boxes from him. I was not disapointed. Good person to trade bamboo with and overall just a nice guy.

yes Gene's Boo packing skills are exceptional. I received a box smaller than the one in the pic and had 6 plants all neatly positioned and secured in place.
Unfortunately the tree rats took several of the planht tags so now I'm not certain which is which :(
I'm scheduledfor back surgery Mar 2, home on meds and short term disability until then. This one should fix the last of the issues ... jumping out of perfectly good planes is never a good idea... but I was young, dumb...you know the story.
Blessings all

You can send get well plants to me :-) Just kiddin... well.. no not really!!

cool Nate, just let me know when. the Jiouzhaigous are looking pretty good... I just moved them into the greenhouse to help them get a jump start on leafing out better. I was kind of worried about mine, as they loose alot of leaves in winter, much, much more than regular nitida.... looking at the ones planted at bamboogarden on monday, I guess thats just how they act. I would not be supprised if Jiouzhaigou gets bumped from F. nitida 'Jiouzhaigou' to just F. Jiouzhaigou.

CJ- shoot me over a pic, and I might be able to see whats what.....
