Most of my bamboos get hit hard in the winter which keep them smaller.
I did just notice that I have a couple of Rubromarginata shoots that are larger than one inch so that is the biggest so far. The shoots are on the plant that I gave extra fertilizer to the last couple of Falls. The shoots on the plant that gets fertilized with the rest of my bamboos only are only in the 5/8 inch range so far. The other species that I gave extra fertilizer to last Fall have not started shooting so I cannot say if it helped them.
I also noticed I have Phyllostachys stimulosa shoots.
