So far, here in Tampa, we have lucked out. The storm has been coming from southwest Florida and going diagonally across the State toward the northeast part of the State. We've got almost no rain, but some slight winds.bambooweb wrote:I hope all of you in Florida came through the storm fine. Here in the Northwest we wanted to sympathise with you so we had a storm last night with winds over 60 mph but we could not get the water so it stirred up so much dust you could not see through it. The thunder storm that followed the wind did drop some rain but also sparked a number of fires that they are still fighting. Today it sound like it is Montana's turn for the storm.
On a positive note I did get .1 inches of rain and the dust was washed off of the bamboo. The high temps also dropped from 100 to below 70.

The storm has been moving slowly all day and for some reason or another, it has not decreased its wind speed once it has moved onto land. In fact, it has slightly increased wind speed since coming ashore.
The storm has no real air current to drive it one way or another, so it might possibly go out into the Atlantic and then turn around and come back across the State as a hurricane. Also, there is probably something else coming way out in the Atlantic for us to worry about. The hurricane season peaks in mid-September and goes to December.
BTW: For what ever it's worth, I looked through the Emoticons and I didn't find anything that looked like a hurricane.
