Re: 2009 Boo Shooting Diary
B. textilis gracilis
I have two. The one in heavy shade just put up its first of the season. I'm still waiting on the other that's located in more "ideal" conditions. Go figure?
B. golden goddess
Putting up fat shoots. This will be the second full summer in the ground. It started as a pretty nice size from a 15 gallon pot. It looks like the shoots will be at least one inch diameter. I'm surly not complaining, but wondering why they sized up so much?

The potted Bambusa ventricosa "Buddha's Belly" has put up a shoot. Watching for shoots from the one in the ground.

B.M. Alphonse Karr, several shoots and one is over 7' tall so it must have popped up last week.

Re: 2009 Boo Shooting Diary
I guess I need to add a new category to the plant list "UnDead"
. I went to replace my Phyllostachys edulis with a different bamboo and it had 2 shoots.
I also have shoots starting on
Phyllostachys kwangsiensis
Shibataea kumasaca
We will see if any of my other 'dead' plants decide to come back.

Re: 2009 Boo Shooting Diary
This is a "sort of" - my p. bambusoides that I thought was dead and gone this winter put up a couple of very small shoots about a month ago. I figured that would be all I got this year as it was killed back so far, but today a new shoot surfaced bigger than the original culm! Maybe there's more in this old girl yet -
I'm thinking (hoping?) that the first tiny shoots were simply "suvival" shoots, and the real shooting is just beginning. We'll see...
