Taking the BS out of BC has got to be a good thing, But I guess I only get half a vote as a former resident of the Lower Mainland and The Island .
We will take a trip to B.C. at some point in the next couple of years . We have a date for the D.C. move of Jan 8 th . My poor Bamboos here will just have to look after themselves for the next 3 or 4 years

Steve, better watch out for the "Bamboo Bandits"..They have been known to take people's boo when they are in a faraway land.
Also, the notorious 'Bamboo Pirate' of Iowaland.

Re: Vancouver Island bamboo society/grow team?
Hello,
I am a bamboo nut living on Vancouver Island near Nanaimo. I would definitely be interested in joining/helping create a Bamboo club/society.
If you are interested in a bamboo logo, I know a Graphic Designer who may be willing to help.
You can email me at
Thanks,
Peter.

Re: Vancouver Island bamboo society/grow team?
Yes, we need a Vancouver Island and or BC grow society. Reason is simple. Our province has the only suitable long term climate suitable for growing bamboos.
I plan on heading back to Vancouver Island (Victoria area) and woking more on my grove and starting a new P.edulis grove from a 15 or 20gal sized plant.
I have heard of several successful established groves in Vancouver that are producing ~3" culms in 5-6years. One such planting I hear is at the Vandusen gardens.
