Chusquea gigantea
Just pruned one of my groves of gigantea and measured culms at 28 ft. The max on the species list is 25ft. Expect new culms in the 30ft range. In addition, I transplanted some gigantea to full sun and have found this species does far better in 1/2 sun & 1/2 shade than full sun as the species list indicates. It does not require much water in this environment and it spreads aggressively. The culms are not hollow and are hard to prune. A very hardy species and looks great in a garden setting. No problems with rodent attacks or bamboo mites. Divisions do best when temperatures are mild and wet conditions exist plus deep roots are taken in their entirety. Rgds
