Help identify what's wrong??

Post by Tlees1611 »

Hey guys,
Hoping you can help identify what is wrong and how I can fix this issue with my Phyllostachys aurea bamboo.
One pot has a lot of leaves with black spots on it, per the pics below.

Thanks in advance
Tim

A lot of rain lately? I've seen similar necrotic spots on my bamboo that is exposed to occasional standing water. Usually it appears in late fall or early spring when temperature is low.

No, not much rain and definitely not cold.
It's been raining on and off,but nothing more than usual and the other plants are fine.
The coldest it has been here is ~14C at night.
We are in Sydney Australia.

On the adjacent unaffected leaves it looks like there are telling white spots from insect damage (look at bottom photo, new leaf just above affected one) that suggest a pattern such as the dark spots, perhaps the white spots get wet and attract fungus or something? Overall the plant looks healthy, I wouldn't worry about it must investigate those white spots it could be mites of some sort, maybe dunk the whole thing in soapy water if possible and rub the leaves on the undersides if can.
