Henon growth 2013

Post by bigone5500 »

A few years ago I dug a 50', 3" diameter culm and after a year it put out some shoots of about 1" diameter. This year I found a shoot which measures about 1 3/8" diameter. I hope next year it will continue with the larger diameter culms and the following year have more upsizing. The average diameter and height for my other Henon is 7/8" x 12'.

Great News! What kind of fertilizing schedule and water schedule did you use?

I have some bamboo that I believe to be Henon (eBay purchase so not 100% certain) in Central Florida that after 5+ years and being moved twice and eaten by goats it is starting to actually show some signs of life as well. However, I'd say that is nowhere near 1 inch in diameter yet.
Someday maybe I'll find a bamboo my wife likes...in the meantime I'll keep planting more!
