Bambusa Textilis Albostriata
I am seeking information on Albostriata. I do not have this plant in my personal collection and am looking at propagating it for the nursery. We have a number of plants flowering down here. Soil is the key here. You need a heavy mix to hold water.

Re: Coastal Redwood
Yes, Metasequoia glyptostroboides (dawn redwood) does just as well here as bald cypress, and can get BIG. Missouri Botanical Garden has some huge specimens right next to bald cypresses of the same size: http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx218/itsnotworkitsgardening/October%202011/IMGP4625.jpg That...

Another option if you are worried about spreading something undersirable is 10% bleach. Dip and go.

Re: Sinobambusa tootsik 'Albostriata'
Mine is in filtered light and is not very agressive. It will fry in full sune here on the Gulf coast as Mark pointed out. Even at that I would not plant it in a small yard or along a fence line in a small yard without barrier.

Bambusa odashimae flowering
Our bamboo group found a Bambusa odashimae flowering in the woods last week. It is undoubtably stress induced as the plant was dieing back from drought. Hopefully we got some pics I can share later.
