Re: Propagating B. textilis var. Gracilis
Just to add, the other thing I believe to be true is that young tissue is easier to differentiate. Therefore by layering or taking cuttings from culms that haven't branched out yet, it is easier to persuade roots to form from the young tissue. Just a thought. I'm kind of convinced that using the cul...

Re: Wanted Oldhamii Bamboo' please uk
Hi, Will it grow there? My mum came out to see me in Australia and I gave her some of the cold hardy ones I grow. B. textilis B. ventricosa, B. multiplex, D. khasianum, D. falcatum, H. portacus and B. oldhamii. I know that initially only the H. portacus and D. falcatum did anything. She hasn't menti...

Re: Propagating B. textilis var. Gracilis
Hi guys, That's for the reply. I am absolutely certain they are cuttings because I have purchased 1000s of them which arrive as cuttings. Definitely not divisions. From looking at them the original branches are either left on when the cuttings are taken or (and I think this is more likely based on t...

Propagating B. textilis var. Gracilis
Hello Bamboo people I live in Australia and I am trying to propagate B. textilis var. "Gracilis" from culm cuttings and layering. I have tried air layering, ground layering and cuttings with low success rate. I know that it is possible to do it with high success rate because there are larg...

Re: Dividing small bamboos in Fall
Hi, Thanks for that. They are al sorts of different ones. Grown from tissue culture or seed. I have divided smaller bamboos successfully before, I'm just worried that they won't have time to recover before it gets cold. My goal is to produce as many small plants as I can. By small I mean 12 inches h...

Dividing small bamboos in Fall
Hi, I have a lot of small bamboos, grown from TC and seed. They are 12-24 inches high. It is mid summer in Australia here and i am planning to grow them up and then divided them at the end of the season. Normally I would wait for spring but we are expecting another child around the start of spring :...

Re: Divisions barely hanging in there
Hi, I know this might be a bit late but is the leaves are looking limp and in danger of dying I would cut 30-50% of them off. This means the plant finds it easier to maintain what are left. How much did you cut it back when it was divided? Also the ventilation in the greenhouse. Check that they get ...
