Re: Is everyone’s Phyllostachys Nigra Flowering?
My Phyllostachys Nigra Henon is flowering right now, my regular Nigra isn't, I'm wondering if you have Henon as well, it would seem likely that you do if mine is flowering. Question to any experts out there. I'm pretty sure the seeds are nearly fully formed but what should I be looking out for? How ...

Re: Kudzu
I'm not concerned about harvesting it for anything really. I want to grow it as a house plant more or less. It seems really interesting. It actually can survive in Canada they've had problems with it in a couple of areas but that's why I want to restrict it to a pot.

Re: Is my newly planted Pseudosasa Japonica in trouble?
This exact thing happened to my Semiarundinaria fastuosa when I kept it inside for the winter. I think it has to do with being too damp/cold/not having enough light during the winter months. My plant barely made it through it (or looked that way at least) I'm sorry but I have no suggestions on how t...

All my Phyllostachys Nigra did this year was grow vigorously. That being said it's hibernating right now so won't know until next year I guess.

Re: Raising soil around bamboo
This is very encouraging to hear! I don't have any problem with the bamboo spreading as much as it wants so I'm not worried about that. Deeper rhizomes will probably do better where I am because of the winters here. I don't think I'll bury them too deep, like I said only 10 inches. Now I just need t...

Raising soil around bamboo
I built a 10 inch box around my bamboo and I'm wondering if the bamboo will rot if I bury around 10 inches of the bottoms of the canes.

Re: Discolored leaves.
But brand new leaves shouldn't be turning yellow should they?
I think you might be right about the sun thing bleaching them a little.
Regardless of the problem I threw some slow release fertilizer on them so I'll see where that gets me.

Re: Discolored leaves.
Thank you for the suggestion, I went and bought some slow release grass fertilizer so hopefully that helps.
