Re: Is it a bambusoides?

Perhaps, it could be but there are no evidence of any green stripes in the sulcus or, moreover, anywhere else.
It should be similar to a Ph. aureosulcata spectabilis but mine shows his stripes even if it's quite small.

Re: Is it a bambusoides?

Thanks for the replies guys. There are no stripes of any kinds, there are no congested or deformed nodes too. The culm texture is rather smooth not rough at all. I found a picture of a shoot, not the best quality but at least we don't have to wait until next April. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2...

Is it a bambusoides?

Hello, I have this bamboo I bought as a Ph. bambusoides, it's not so big but I'm not sure it is really a Bambusoides, it looks like a small Ph. vivax. So if you check this pictures and let me know your opinion I'd be glad. Thanks https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/53Pdah.jpg https://imagize...

Re: First bamboo you obtained

I started collecting bamboos just last winter so I remember very well what I bought as my first plant. They were two plants actually: Phyllostachys bissetii and Pseudosasa japonica, I paid them 16 euros and 7 euros to a nursery not far from the place I live. The bissetii looks nice and healthy, the ...

Re: is it dendrocalamus asper?

It's a nice plant, even if you can't confirm the species, I thought it was impossible growing D. asper in Italy but if you can there it should be possible here too.
Could you give me the name of the seller? On eBay I just found seeds and I don't want even try to start from seed with a Dendrocalamus.

Re: Bamboo Removal

Reading this discussion I was wondering why nobody has considered to use anherbicide, that's what I would do. Glyphosate can be very useful to kill bamboo, pouring a rather concentred solution of this herbicide into the cutted internodes you can kill an entire plants, in about two weeks the active p...

Re: white bamboo?

Hello, I'm new here but this is really interesting, this could be a wonderful new variety, I thought the most decorative white bamboo was P. bambusoides "Richard Haubrich" but, with totally white and green culms in a single plant, this would be much more better. Just keep us posted, I'm re...

Re: white bamboo?

Hello, I'm new here but I decided to write something because this is really interesting. It could be the birth of a new variety, maybe with white and green culms, in this way the whole plant could make photosynthesis, even if slower. Keep us posted about this, I'm courious and I'll be glad to be the...
