Re: Help identifying
On a different thread elsewhere we've almost come to the conclusion that it is Bambusoides. Everything I've seen points toward that.

Help identifying
I have had this Bamboo a long time it's been in this location 10 years. I am in middle TN and got this from Meridian Mississippi. I have tried to identify it for a long time with no success. Can someone help me out a little? It spreads really far from the previous years shoots, it doesn't infill ver...

Re: To dig or not to dig, that is the question...
For the past two years I have dug a bunch of divisions of yellow groove. I waited until they leafed out before I dug. I also knew this was not the most opportune time to dig but the guy was going to cut them all to the ground. I lost about half of the divisions that I took. But I was able to get 20 ...

Need ID please
I tried last year or the year before to identify this bamboo. I got a new larger division this past fall. I am not a pro with a camera so help me out if you need more pics. I got this in southern Miss. It was growing in a the middle of some bushes so that is why the one looks kind of funny. http://s...

Re: Looking for bamboo
I have lots of yellow groove. My one and only Spectabilis died last winter while I still lived in MI. I recently found a grove of yellow groove here in Clarksville, TN that was the largest Bamboo I have ever seen with my eyes. I couldn't believe it was YG, it had to be 2+ inches in dia. But sure eno...

Where in Western KY are you. I am in Clarksville, TN. I too am looking for boos to plant here. I have a few different types but they are still small. I see yellow groove everywhere around here.

Re: dividing new bamboo
I have a guy here that calls me each June to come dig up his yellow groove. He has it growing near his business but doesn't want it to spread like crazy. So he waits till the shoots are fully grown and leafed out then he calls me. Last year I dug up 7-8 field divisions. All but 2 of them are doing g...

Those are awesome! Do you think they would grow in zone 5 Michigan? Are they as cold hardy as Yellow groove?

I will do it this weekend. The culm on the Spectabilis was a whip shoot from late last summer. It more than likely was touching the house during the cold spell. I don't know how else it would still have viable leaf buds, when the rest of it is doing nothing. I will let ya'll know what I find.

Re: Can bamboos overwinter in a pot grown outside? 0-5F
I have been wondering why my boos that were in pots are not shooting. I have Spectabilis, Yellow groove, and another type (verdict is still out on that one). I did not get those three inside before it hit -3. The spectabilis and yellow groove are not doing good at all. The Spectabilis has one culm t...

That is a great website. I love the maze!!! I have wondered if you could build a maze out bamboo and how hard it would be. Do you know if they use rhizome barriers or do they just mow over the shoots to keep the maze's shape?
