Re: Strange growth of Moso seedling
I doubt that. I'm pretty sure it's growing out of the same seed as originally perfectly normal bamboo shoot. Shoot aborted when this strange looking "grass" appeared. It's starting to grow faster every day. I hope it develops soon and hopefully starts shooting. If it makes normal shoots, t...

Strange growth of Moso seedling
Few weeks ago, I've planted moso seeds and they germinated. All of them are now growing as normal bamboo plant, except one. This seedling came out normally, it had normal sprout and after a while second shoot appeared next to existing one and the first one stopped growing. In about a week or two, it...

Re: My seedling needs professional help
This little bamboo shooted 3 weeks after it germinated. It only had 3 leafs back then, I think it just likes to shoot, it was born shooter. All three new shoots are growing extremely fast. Well, the smallest one is stil tiny, but it doubled it's size so it's good. I'll post pictures of lea...

Re: My seedling needs professional help
This evening new shoot became visible. It's shooting like crazy. I doubt it would do that if it would have nutrition problems. I have no idea what made it shoot so much, I really didn't expect such a small plant grow with such vigor. Today it's only 50 days old. http://static.mojefotke.si/ae3ee9cca6...

Re: My seedling needs professional help
It seems that both leaves are getting better. There are two shoots, they actually started on the same day, tip of their leaf blade is at exactly the same height. They are both around an inch tall now and they seem to be growing fast. I watered whole pot yesterday and after half an hour, removed exce...

Re: My seedling needs professional help
Alan, can lack of nutrients appear when bamboo starts shooting and takes most of its energy into new shoot? I ask that, because today I noticed something and I think there may be 2 shoots at the same time. I don't think shooting can be a problem for bamboo, but it does look like that. I've used mild...

Re: My seedling needs professional help
I watered it with mild 8-4-4 fertilizer yesterday evening. It also have many microelements that might be needed. The tearing leaf should unfold today or tomorrow, I'll see how it's holding. New leaf that is growing above "the wrinkled one" looks better than one before. Perhaps culm is defo...

My seedling needs professional help
It seems my Borinda fungosa seedling has some serious problems. It has two stems, and another shoot just emerged. Original culm started acting strange and at one point it stopped growing completely for a few days, after that it continued, but leaf was deformed and couldn't unfold as it should. After...

Re: Signs of spring 2011
Spring is coming to Central Europe too. It was full sun but only 6°C today. Nights are still at around -6°C, but in just a few days they should get above freezing. http://static.mojefotke.si/9fe853c72ebd41a31e89e863a0e018d9c46fd1f1p.JPG Bees are working hard from early beginning, take a look at this...

Re: Boo Shoots for 2011
Doesn't really count I guess, but I'm happy to see my Borinda fungosa (ex. Fargesia) put out second shoot.

Re: Fargesia/Borinda fungosa seedling stopped growing new le
Update: It seems it decided to grow after all. 5 days after previous leaf unfolded, tiny leaf tip is slowly emerging. Hopefully it will make it. It usually had new leaf ready before it even unfolded, now it took a break. I was worried for nothing...

Fargesia/Borinda fungosa seedling stopped growing new leaves
I'm quite new to bamboo addiction and I've just recently noticed something I think is strange. 5 months old seedling grew up to 6th leaf which was a bit strange and twisted. All other leaves were green, but this one has yellow stripe on it. I'm attaching photo of this last leaf. While it was still g...

Re: Bamboo id Opatija, Croatia
I'm almost certain it's moso bamboo - Phyllostachys pubescens. Dark shoots, green culms, height.. Must be Moso.
