I don't know what is causing the yellow leaves, sorry. I seem to remember my Moso seedlings doing that when they were that size. They all survived though. Mine were the same size as yours when I planted them and now they are getting close to 4". Yours are probably just adjusting or something. I...

You could try a girth hitch with a large 1/2" diameter rope. That's basically what I do and none of them have died that I did that way.

I think some species lose their leaves in spring. Not sure if that's one of them.

I went to the National Arboretum today to see if the Moso was shooting and didn't see any. I just measured one of my Moso shoots and it's 4" diameter. Most of my moso isn't shooting though, just this area that I mulch a lot. I guess maybe the mulch is decomposing and warms the ground up or some...

My moso made it through the winter with almost no freeze damage. I think someone said it's our 4th mildest winter ever (near Washington DC).
