That can't be true I did not see any women in bikinis laying in a garden of cacti.

I actually remember buying seeds from them way back in 1998. There prices haven't gone up much since then. I still have some of the seeds in my deep freeze. I am amazed at how well things still germinate even after years of storage. I am always collecting seeds and growing them "later" For example I planted my Joshua tree seeds last year after 6 years of storage and had 80% come up. I just planted some moso seeds that I froze over 1 year ago and so far they are proving to still be viable. (no final count yet) I have had similar results with cantaloupe seeds over 12 years old.

But if you do a Google search of images using "nudes cacti", you will find out that nudes and cacti go together quite well.

I planted the seeds in pots a day after they arrived and two sprouts are now emerging. A Prickly Pear and a Joshua Tree! This is encouraging!

I've got a couple coming up already too. Nate mentioned freezing the seeds. That must have done the trick.

I guess as long as it's been mild lately I can dream about planting Joshua outside someday. A couple weeks from now I'll probably think differently.

I would try planting it in a pile of gravel. Worth a try, yes?

I would think that well drained soil would do for the Joshua Tree. It is listed as hardy to Zone 7 and that may be a conservative estimate. (I do seem to recall wondering about a yucca with a trunk I saw growing locally.)

Meanwhile, another Prickly Pear and Joshua Tree have sprouted.
