Here is a link to more pics on this tree: http://www.rain-tree.com/Plant-Images/embauba-pic.htm
Hope that helps. Jim Rehor at Rainforestbamboos.com sent me some of these trees. He collects rain forest trees. I really like the leaves.

The fruit continues to grow...
Don't know when the fruit might be ripe. I just want the seed.

Cecropia is either one of the bat polinated, or bat dispersed plants.... cant remember which though! if you notice the fruit dissapering at night, maybe bats are migrating north to consume the fruits of your labor!

Re: Cecropia Palmata
More great pictures.
And I love that one of the species of Cecropia, according to Wikipedia, has an antidepressant effect on rats. Just the other day I saw a rat leap into the mouth of a kitten. Thankfully, the cat isn't a mouser of any sort, so the rat just dropped down into the gutter again. Enough about the depressed rat population here....
Do you know anything about germination time or rate?
I want to try embryo rescue. And I need an interesting species to work with.
If it germinates too easily it wouldnt be a very worthwhile project.
It would help if it were hardy for me, but I wonder if this could make an interesting first-year annual in places were it wouldn't overwinter.

The fruit fell off... so, I am hoping for seed, but have no idea about the fruit or seed. I think it grows incredibly quick and may make a good plant that may go to the ground each year in your area. Help me find answers to the seed, and I will share some.
