Don't have a before photo handy but have one somewhere...2 shots of the pond and stuff from opposite directions
Not good photo quality, there are 2 striking redbud trees, one with burgundy leaves which look great with the Pl viridistriatus and one with leaves the same color as but not very visible in this 2nd photo, it is behind the burgundy one

It looks like by next season, you should have spectabilis rhizomes diving into your pond and drinking away, or perhaps shoots pushing up through your pond if there's a way for the rhizomes to grow under there.
Anyways that looks pretty cool with picket fences of culms as the grove roams freely.
