Gigantochloa lako, syn. Bambusa lako
Are there any records about the black-stem bamboo Gigantochloa lako (synonym: Bambusa lako) that any of its new green culms have stayed green with maturity?

I have seen no such records but perhaps they exist, in my personal observation they have all turned black.

KhunDieter - do you recognize this bamboo? I have been unable to ID it, at maturity it exceeds 4" diameter and 15 meter culms. It has NO aerial roots, does have oral setae, low branching, tightly vertical habit, new culms are covered with brown fuzz for as far as I can see - any thoughts? I have considered asper, brandsii and G atter but I think all 3 have aerial roots and my other plants of these species are slightly different looking.

I bought it here in Hawai’i at a farmers market. Seller did not know the species. It is clearly the same as two clumps I know of nearby and they are large clumps quite tall.
I wondered if it is known in Thailand?

I have never seen this bamboo in Thailand. I do not know whether this bamboo occurs naturally in Thailand or was introduced. It could be a Gigantochloa or Dendrocalamus species, or perhaps it is a hybrid.
In Chapters 1 and 2 of Bamboos of Thailand (BoT)

you will find descriptions, as well as photos via links (button-like framed).
You can compare certain characteristics of your plant with those from the description and photos. Maybe you will find what you are looking for.
