Re: Scorpions love bamboo too...
When my oldest son was still in the crawling stage, we noticed he was playing with something on the kitchen floor. We opened his hand and found a scorpion in his hand. He didn't get stung and we very relieved that he didn't get stung.boonut wrote:This scorpion found a nice home in a Bambusa Balcooa culm...

We have some scorpions in our area, but not like I think you do in your area.

Here is a little better picture. I am also intrigued by the lining of the culm inside the hole...
BTW... we have lots of scorpions, tarantulas, and other "neat bugs".

Wondering what those eat? I imagine they are beneficial. Anyway, it's Earth Day. Celebrate scorpions and all other life on Earth that don't mess up the planet.

Thuja,
Next week I get started with the construction of my first pond... hopefully, I can get more animals, insects, birds, and other "critters". The pond is supposed to be 100' x 100'. I want to see lots of wildlife at the farm... they all enjoy boo too.

Wow, that's one Texas-sized pond. I'm sure you'll have even more great critters. I'll get my tent packed and ready to go.

I started my 5-year plan about 8 years ago. Still have about half the farm to set up. All Bamboo nuts are welcome at the Boonut Farm. Bring a shovel...
RE: Scorpions love bamboo too...
Your pond is going to be larger than my entire lot.
RE: Scorpions love bamboo too...
Scorpions good they keep the roaches under control. That is unless they make a bed in your shoe and you forget to shake them out. Do not let anyone tell you that a scorpion sting is like a bee sting. Take it from me they hurt a whole lot more. Thankfully it does not last long.

Come to think of it... I have never seen a roach at the farm.
