Bambusa emeiensis

Post by Roy »

I do not see Bambusa emeiensis listed in the ABS Source List, but I have a number of Bambusa emeiensis 'Viridiflavus' that are putting up new culms without any of the yellow striping as in the topic link below of 17173. I am hearing of some others who are having this reversion back to the standard type of Bambusa emeiensis--link 20583 below. And once they put up a solid green form, then none of the culms growing off of the solid green plant have the yellow striping.

Now if any of the B. multiplex's (B.m. 'A. Karr' as an example) revert back to the standard green form, then we call them Bambusa multiplex. Then shouldn't we list in the Source List "Bambusa emeiensis". I've looked in several bamboo books and Bambusa emeiensis is listed and does have pictures that look like Bambusa emeiensis 'Viridiflavus' without the yellow stripes.

I would like to get Dr. Chris Stapleton's thoughts on this.
