We have a big problem in the UK, old selected seedlings were sold with species names, so most of the forms of chusquea sold here are really forms of culeou. The recent flowering has produced two very fine and different forms: 'Goliath' is large culmed plant with plenty of vigour and 'Purple splendour' which is much smaller but the culm is a bright purple colour.

Bamboo...Please note... This plant is seriously addictive and you may lose interest in other, less rewarding plants!

Chusquea culeou-cultivars???
Personally I had two Chusquea culeou 1 gallon plants. The one planted outside died in the summer the one planted in the greenhouse died in the winter
One grower in the Seattle area has the following cultivars:
clone 61-11
Aisen #1, Prince
Aisen #2, Aaron
Bart
Bert
Big Mac
From his notes it looks like Aisen #1 and #2 are the hardiest.
