Yours about tripled in size and canes in a year. Mine just got it's first new cane in 14 months lol.

I read over the info on that link Saklo provided a few times, it's a bit overwhelming- so is the debate, that Bambusa Nana (Thai Beauty) is a clone from an unknown species from the Quail Botanical Gardens in the 70's, and may not be from Thailand at all?
Or that bambusa nana and Phai Liang are both from Thailand, but separate species often being sold as the same species?

I will be curious what I actually have when it gets more mature, too hard to tell right now.

I'm thrilled to hear that yours has a new cane, I had all but tossed that plant in the rubbish but after weeks of being ignored it sent up that survival shoot that you inherited, so another one is a good sign. Yours came from Tropical Bamboo nursery in FL, so that is about all I know of the origin, don't know if it is a Quail clone either.

I think you about have it, as I understand the name Bambusa nana is not a valid name and most of the plants under that name are headed toward being callled Thyrsocalamus liang (or some are a form of B multiplex but those plants would be easy to ID as a form of B multiplex). Except the Quail clone which is a mystery that differs in key ways from the Liang clan and is apparently suspected as a form of Gigantachloa (maybe, but it seems too different to me). The Liang forms are apparently from seedlings that exhibit different characteristics but some common key characteristics that have thus far kept them in the same clan - but what are they seedlings of?

Simple eh?

In my post on the so-called Bambusa nana, dated 17 October 2021, 8:27 a.m., I provided three links to ×Thyrsocalamus for access to Bamboos of Thailand. The contents of this online publication are current and are continually updated. The species of the so-called Bambusa nana is ×Thyrsocalamus liang. It should not be confused with Bambusa multiplex (Lour.) Raeusch. ex Schult. & Schult. f.; synonyms are Bambusa glaucescens (Willd.) K. Koch, and Bambusa nana Roxb. If anyone knows of any additional updates that are not already included in Bamboos of Thailand, please let me know.
