containing running bamboo

Post by benbodey »

I am thinking about planting running bamboo in a buried wading pool, leaving about 2 inches above ground. Has anyone done this, and how did it work out?

Greetings, I believe that the bamboo would find its way out pretty easily, you'd need to make drainage holes and right there is an escape path plus it would likely be able to pierce the sides over time.

Even the metal sheath around the pool would pose no match to escaping rhizomes. It deforms easily and the part where it's joined together allows it to escape. It can also travel under if not at least around 1m deep.
