But what is it? I am thinking Semiarundinaria fastuosa[/url] from it's culms - straight, long and even internodes. But the yellow colour of the mature culms throws me off a bit. Regardless, this hedge was beautifully kept.

It sure acts like S. fastuosa, but it looks like a pleached Bambusa. "Poodle" shrubs are popular in the U.S. but they are usually junipers, boxwoods or other woody shrub or tree. Bamboo "poodles" are another thing completely. Cool pic.

cant say its Fastuosa. I dont like that colour on the culm if thats the case. Any bamboo will produce more "long" branches if its topped. However that mass looks tropical. I dont know tropical bamboos enough but bambusa seems likely. Where was the photo taken? -Eastlandia
