Sasa palmata?

Post by dakers »

Brad, I got what I remember to be Sasa palmata from you in Indiana years ago. But, I see a friend says S. palmata looks like the 1st photo. Mine is the second photo. What is mine?
Thanks,
Doug

I don't think you would have obtained S palmata from me, possibly, but I don't think I ever had it in production. I think it's more likely that is S tsuboiana.

Thanks, Brad. Now that I think about it, perhaps you recommended S. palmata. I don’t remember where I got it, but thought it was S. palmata all these years.
My apparent S. tsuboiana only got 2’ or less in Indiana; burning back most winters. I brought a chunk to the Alabama Gulf Coast last year. We’ll see how tall it gets here.

My S. tsuboiana and Sasaella bitchuensis look very similar. Possibly that too? (I got both of those from Brad)

Could be Alan, that photo just does not quite look right for Sasa tsuboiana but it is close enough that it could be :drunken:
