Private message for BooKing

Post by Iowaboo »

Yeah, that's right. I knew all you lamers would open this. You may as well talk about what height you expect bamboo to max out in your climate.

I'm wanting 30ft in my climate. Sure I'm wishful, but I've heard of oases in the desert. Isn't that a dream come true?

Lance: the Parvifolia I give you in a few years may make it to that height.
We'll have to stay tuned..

As far as Oasis in the desert, I distinctly remember seeing one til I got closer and realized it was a port-o-john.

Other than suspected cold hardiness, and that it's bamboo, what are the characteristics of "Parvifolia" that cause such excitement in the northern lands?

Probably some minor others to watch for. Right now, the only one I have in my arsenal that may pull it off is rubro. Supposedly, it likes to grow tall. I'll take a nap for a decade, and let you know.

Relatively thick culms, small foliage like moso. Did I mention it supposedly really cold hardy. That's the number 1 thing. There are other rare species that might be just as good or better than parvifolia, but parvifolia is our running joke in the bamboo forum.
http://www.kimmei.com/pu/pu23.htm wrote: From a distance, this species resembles 'Henon's bamboo', Phyllostachys nigra 'Henonis', but the culms are comparatively thicker and the leaves are smaller.
Hence the name, moso of the north.

I almost started a thread last night asking if I would be banned from bambooweb if I said that I have no interest in obtaining a Parvifolia, but I figured that since I had just drank a couple pints of homebrew I probably shouldn't post. :laughing1:

Drinking and posting, they just don't mix. This also goes for catnip. You should always have a designated typist on hand to take charge of your keyboard while enjoying your homebrews. How many accidents such as this thread could be avoided?

This has been a public service announcement from the Bambuseros Against Drunken Posting.

I think its good for such threads like this going into the testing area. Its like throwing a drunk in a padded-room. No harm done, right?

Now post in 3rd person haiku... another forum I'm a member of always has a "Friday theme". We often have "3rd person Haiku Friday" where every post has to be haiku. For example:

mantis likes bamboo
he grows tropical clumpers
no runners for him

But Friday it's not-
So why then post in haiku?
'Tis senseless it seems.
