2010 Late Spring trip to Tropical Bamboo in Loxahatchee, Fl.

Post by Bamboo Conne'isseur »

So I decided to make the trip with a buddy to Tropical bamboo Nursery, home to perhaps the largest available selection of tropical bamboo to consumers. Tropical Bamboo is sort of off the beaten path from the main road and is nestled between several other nurseries down a long unpaved road. As you begin to pull up you start to realize that this nursery is not like the rest, especially as you see some B. Lako lined up like a fence down one side of their property line, right next to the road. I think of my lako and realize that this nursery has ones larger than mine in a long row of like 15 to 20 or so. As you approach you come upon this:

then more lako as you come in:

Hey, no problem
I must say, I was most impressed with the Bitung Hitam; even more than Parker's Giant. It makes an unbelievable statement once mature, and it does get BIG!
Parker's Giant was very nice as well, and looks like it will get even bigger.
