ABS at-large vote

Post by bambooweb »

I know I said I wanted to keep politics off of this board but at least this vote is bamboo related.

It is now time to vote for one of the At-large Representatives. Normally it is hard to get enough votes to finalize the election until the convention but if you are an ABS member you can mail or e-mail the ballot from the August issue of bamboo and get counted early.

There are a number of good candidates so I will not tell you how to vote only that we Needmore votes.

Bill,

If you Needmore votes to finalize the election, if one is a member of the ABS, then the member can cast his/her ballot via email at:

ned@bamboogarden.com

The candidates on the ballot for ABS At-Large Representative are:

Norman Bezona

Brad Salmon

JoAnne Wyman

If you Needmore votes to finalize the election, I can't help you. I've already voted via email.

Bill,

Maybe I can help you with the

Many a times I've used the phrase "Silence of the Culms" in relationship to ABS leadership. Just look on the list of officers in ABS (see link below) and see how many names you recognize by their posts on Bambooweb.info?

http://www.americanbamboo.org/About.html#Officers

Didn't find very many did you! And that's the main reason ABS membership has not really grown much in the last 20 years, while the popularity of bamboo has increased by a 1000 percent during that same time.

Hey, I found my name on that list

I do know that Ian and Ned occasionally lurk on the site but instead of posting they e-mail me.

A note on Ian. If anyone here is from Oregon, and has not joined the ABS, consider joining with the OBA as your primary chapter. As of the last count I heard they still needed 5 more members to be able to keep a Rep on the ABS board and it would be terrible to lose Ian since he was the one that let me use the ABS database to start this site.

The ballot is on page 23 of the August 2007 edition of BAMBOO. While you may Needmore time in deciding your candidate selection, be sure and get your ballot in by the deadline of Oct. 20, 2007.

Ned just sent an email to the board on another subject and noted the only board members that have voted are Ian and myself. I emailed him back asking why he had not voted  but I do think it is bad that most of the board have not voted.

In the Banana Republic of Florida, we have a hard time voting once and getting it right! In Florida, we don't Needmore votes; we just need to be able to cast and count them correctly.
