I figure I would drop a note here to see if anyone has some stragglers; seedlings, plantlets, rhizome sections; that they would like to see go to a large acreage home where they can stretch out. I really would like some exotic colors -- I think several acres of a black bamboo grove, or a robert young grove, would look amazing with some trails carved through it, for example.

Ideally I would only like Phyllostachys, upsizing capability at least to 3" diameter for what I have in mind in my end game. But if you have something else that you have extra, please let me know.

I would like to thank Steve for his generosity already!

As far as big bamboos that can produce color, I could potentially get more divisions off moso bicolor, vivax aureocaulus, and vivax huangwenzhu inversa depending on how much they produce.

As far as the big green ones, parvifolia and atrovaginata produce plenty of divisions every year, while the dulcis may yield a handful. I have no idea how well the prominens and shanghai III will produce. I do have a way of dwarfing culms on the perimeter so they are shippable divisions, and I intend to do that on every shoot that I want to save for divisions.

It's always a surprise on what I will see in the spring for shoots.

Steve would you be able to ship me some large rhizome sections in Jan of these?

It is very of dangerous to send rhizomes right in the middle of the winter, but I can do it off my biggest groves in parvifolia, decora, propinqua beijing, and atrovaginata after the threat of freeze in March because I know those 2 are proven to be propagated fairly easily with rhizome division. It may be better to wait until April after rhizomes/ buds swell up even more so they have more energy. They would probably shoot right away, or within 1 week at that time.

I know my dulcis is big, but I didn't see any rhizomes from it this year, so I just have to hope that it can produce at least a few culms away from the main clump.

For example I ended up losing 9/18 of the moso bicolor divisions that I tried to take this spring because I was too adventurous and gambled on grabbing rhizome divisions, even though I knew normal green moso was hard to propagate from rhizome. Now I know that even longer sections with lots of shoots and buds may not necessarily be viable depending on the energy distribution for some species, especially the ones that tend to make less, but bigger shoots, so I don't intend to grab that many again, even if rhizomes grow all throughout the winter in the greenhouse.
