Greetings, any of the Bambusa multiplex, textilis forms, ventricosa forms and unless you are uphill some Oldhamii is good. It is my understanding that a few others are fine but the above I have had no problems with.

I live about an hour southwest from Sacramento and I'm successfully growing the following:

Ampelocalamus scandens - Likes shade
Bambusa chungii
Bambusa dolichoclada
Bambusa dolichomerithalla
Bambusa emeiensis
Bambusa pervariabilis 'Viridistriata'
Bambusa tuldoides
Otatea acuminata 'aztecorum'
Yushania boliana - gets leaf curl during the hot days, but has survived 105F+ in full sun.

I'm also attempting to grow various Dendrocalamus that may have some cold tolerance. My thread is in the experimenting with bamboo sub forum.

Phyllostacys Pubenscens from seed - What are the chances the supplier got the name right?
