Looking to expand my Phyllostachys collection and have found that many people weed or trash tons of rhizomes and small plants while keeping there groves in check. A good opportunnity to expand my collection while rescuing a few plants. Just hate to waste good plants! Will pay shipping. Can trade also. I have tons of Phy. Bissettii (very large form), Pseudosasa japonica, Fargesia rufa and Arundinaria 'tecta'.
Looking for:
Aureosulcata 'Aureocaulis'
Aureosulcata 'Spectabilis'
Iridescens
Vivax (any)
Dulcis
Prominens
Nigra
Nigra 'Henon'
Nigra 'Bory'
Atrovaginata
Bambusoides 'Slender Crookstem'
Viridis
Viridis 'Robert Young'

Re: Wanted: Your extra free'trash' Phyllostachys rhizomes/pl
As far as the ones I have in the ground, (dulcis, atrovaginata, nigra, spectabilis), I normally turn rhizomes that are headed in a direction I don't want upwards so they become whip shoots, and whenever there are too many rhizomes growing close together, I'll turn entire rhizomes, and put them through drainage holes on nursery pots which I can always get more of. I might have several divisions on these species by late summer depending on how warm the summer gets, and how much precipitation there is.
I simply don't like to waste plant material so I don't trash any of my rhizomes because there will always be someone who needs it.

You asked too late! Ask a couple of months earlier (late Feb or early March) next time. Sorry.
Alan.

I will have potted aureosulcata 'Aureocaulis' available in the fall dirt cheap if you want some, maybe others too.
God Bless,
Matthew
