Hello everyone.
Just moved into my new house in York, UK. There is a lovely bamboo in the back garden, but I can't find out what species it is. I'm wanting to know how to manage it and also how tall it will grow.
The canes are bright green, with horizontal stripes. Tallest is about five feet high.
There are no leaves at all, just tiny little canes sprouting out of the nodes at the top of the tallest canes. Tried to show that in a pic.
There's plenty of new canes growing at the moment.
Apologies for the poor photos.

Re: Identify Bamboo Species Please
This is not bamboo, it's Giant Horsetail, maybe E. giganteum. The genus is Equisetum and yours is an ornamental one, likely not as uncontrollable as the ones native here which are impossible to eradicate. A plant - once trees - that was around with the dinosaurs.

Re: Identify Bamboo Species Please
Thanks for the reply.
I had just found out what it was before my post went live on the website! Typical, after three days of research as well.
Its rough horsetail and can be a big pest.
I'd better stop watering it.
It's a shame, as I wanted it to be a nice bamboo as we could do with a screen where it's situated.
