Big D___ Leaves...

The first one is Dendrocalamus Giganteus "Quail"

Image

The second is??? You have to guess -----

Image

Here is a hint on the second one. Those are leaves on the main culm... at the end of the shoot... not branch leaves... more like culm sheath blades. Ya' have to see it to believe it. It is in a 38 gallon Amaroo pot... the new culm has no branches yet. The culm is about 5 foot tall.

Are you talking about the bamboo leaves in the lower right hand corner of this picture?

I hope it was more than obvious that I was being extremely sarcastic in my post.

I don't have much experience with big leafed bamboos. Once I get past D. asper, I don't have much of anything with really large leaves.

If you want a guess: Dendrocalamus latiflorus.

After checking my bamboo this morning I'm going to have to agree w/ Roy and go with D. latiflorus.
